Welcome to the Washington Metropolitan Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (CFE) . We are a not-for-profit professional organization wholly staffed by volunteers, whose primary mission is to promote fraud detection and deterrence through educational training programs, for both anti-fraud professionals and the interested public. We also host networking socials on a periodic basis, which give attendees an opportunity to have informal discussions with one another on topics of interest.
Chapter members have a diverse professional background. Some of us are members of the Federal and state law enforcement community, and others
provide investigative, auditing, and consulting services to law firms and business enterprises, governmental and regulatory agencies. Those of us in the public sector are engaged in litigation support, forensic accounting, fraud investigation, and fraud prevention services.
Membership in our chapter is open to Certified Fraud Examiners and Associate members of the ACFE, and others interested in fraud examination. If you would like more information about our organization, or wish to join, please visit here or feel free to contact us at Chapter@acfedc.org.
The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), based in Austin, Texas, is an international organization whose mission is to reduce the incidence of white-collar crime and assist in the detection and deterrence of fraud. The chapter was incorporated in 1991 and is one of more than 100 chapters officially recognized by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. President's PenHello Chapter Members and Prospective Members!
The Metropolitan DC Chapter of the ACFE welcomes you to our website. Our first continuing education event of the year, comparing UK's Anti-Bribery Act to FCPA, was a success. We welcome you to join us for our next event, a five hour continuing education program on Social Media and its implications for the investigative and oversight communities. Please note our new training location, the DC Bar Conference Center, located at the corner of 12th and K streets.
If you haven't done so already, please take a moment and renew your annual membership for this current year. Membership can be renewed by following this link: http://acfedc2012.eventbrite.com/.
As we develop the year's goals we wanted to briefly remind you about a couple of our new initiatives which are now under way.
Chaper members who are current or prior law enforcement professionals are being offered an opportunity to participate in a local-level working group. You may have received an e-mail about this. If not, and you are interested, please contact membership chair Chuck Anderson at Chuck.Anderson@ACFEDC.ORG.
We have a new contact point for those of you who are interested in gaining information about speakers for your organizations. The Chapter regularly volunteer speaks for your professional association meetings, colleges and universities Federal and State agencies and private organizations. Please contact us at Speaker.Request@ACFEDC.ORG for more information.
The group purchase opportunity for the ACFE's redesigned CFE prep course is still available. As long as there remains an interest, we will continue to offer this opportunity. Our new process which is designed to ensure that you are not pre-paying too far in advance, is that you will first indicate your interest in participating, and then once we have the requisite number of participants, we will notify interested parties about a purchase group. Those of you who are interested can sign up for the expression of interest (no payment yet), at this link:
We are pleased to provide Chapter members this opportunity, and will continue to do so as long as there remains an interest. Please note, you will need to pick up your materials from our office.
Our chapter would not be able to provide the quality trainings or the member enhancements such as the Law Enforcement Working Group and the Group Purchase opportunity without your continued interest and support. If you are interested in taking an active role in the Chapter, but haven't yet reached out to us, please feel free to contact one of our officers or Membership Chair Chuck Anderson. With these newer initiatives and others in development, there are many opportunities for your participation.
With warm regards,
